Undefeated world champion sprinter Black Caviar is yet to produce a horse with anything even remotely close to her ability in the five winners we have seen from her to date, but a grand-daughter of the great mare made an eye-catching debut win at Bendigo on Sunday.

Earlier this week Team Hawkes saddled another grand-daughter of Black Caviar, three year-old filly Ready Forcocktails (3f Snitzel x Ready for Caviar) to score a stylish win at Randwick (read about her here) and today they unleashed two year-old Street Boss USA) filly Panchenko.

Taking on a field of largely unraced juveniles in the 1000m maiden, Panchenko had the benefit of two recent trials at Flemington, one of which she won, and the services of Beau Mertens to ride.

She flew the gates to cross and sit outside the leader travelling hard on the bridle and when asked to get going at the furlong dropped rivals cold to win by a widening five lengths.

Bred and retained by the Black Caviar ownership group, Panchenko is the fourth winner from four foals to race out of Oscietra, the first foal of Black Caviar and a minor winner by Exceed and Excel.

Panchenko is the first filly from Oscietra with her three previous winning foals all being geldings and she has a yearling colt in the pipeline by Anamoe.

Oscietra missed in 2024 and is now in foal to Coolmore young gun Private Life, the Group I MRC Caulfield Guineas winning son of Written Tycoon, who stands his second season this spring at a fee of $16,500.
